Women's Soccer Dominates Home Opener

Elgin, Ill., Sept. 8, 2021 - The Elgin Community College women's soccer team opened home play with an 8-1 win over Rock Valley.

Kaley Kowal scored a team-high four goals, Diana Santillan tallied two and Mia Kraft and Valeria Jimenez scored one apiece.

The Spartans dominated posession from the start, recording six shots on goal in the first 18 minutes of play.

Kowal put ECC on the board in the 19th minute followed by her second goal in the 25th for the 2-0 lead to end the first half.

Elgin tallied two goals in the first six minutes of the second half to increase the lead to 4-0.

Rock Valley found its lone goal in the 50th minute of the game.

Jimenez scored her goal around two defenders in the 54th minute. Kowal put the ball into the back of the net just one minute later.

Santillan took the ball from deep right to score in the 71st with the final goal of the game coming with 5:52 left on the clock.

The Spartans face Madison in the second home game of the season on Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
