Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team was edged 67-63 by Sauk Valley on Tuesday night.

The Spartans move to 1-8 in their overall season as the Skyhawks improve to 4-3.

Team leaders included Zoey Wilson in points (17) and steals (eight), Nicole Beach in rebounds (five) and Sarah Duque in assists (four).

Elgin could not connect offensively in the first, as they were outscored 21-8. The rest of the game they fought back but came up just short.

The Spartans travel to Wisconsin to face Bryant and Stratton on Friday night.
