Women's Hoops Falls in Home Opener

Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team suffered a 68-36 loss to Lansing on Saturday afternoon.

Team leaders included Sarah Duque in points (12), Nicole Ramtahal in rebounds (seven) and Zoey Wilson in assists (three).

Lansing maintained the lead throughout the game, with 12 unanswered points throughout the first quarter to enter the second with a 17-5 advantage.

The Spartans found an eight-point swing to tighten the score up to 20-15, but the Stars contested with eight unanswered points of their own to finish the first half at 32-19.

LCC continued building, leading by as many as 21 in the third quarter. They began the fourth quarter with eight-straight points and ended with seven-straight to hand ECC the 68-36 loss.

The Spartans travel to face Olive-Harvey on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
