Milwaukee, Wis. - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team opened its season with a 68-64 loss to Milwaukee Tech on Wednesday night.
Zoey Wilson netted a team-high 15 points with Nicole Ramtahal, Sarah Duque and Shayne LaRock also scoring in the double digits. Ramtahal recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Elgin held a 1-0 lead through the first two and a half minutes benfore Milwaukee hit a jump shot and proceeded to score six unanswered points in the following five minutes. First quarter ended with an 8-16 score.
The Stormers consistently found four and five point sweeps, strengthening their lead to as many as 16 points in the second quarter. ECC cut it down to just 24-34 entering halftime.
Ramtahal hit a three to tighten the score up to 33-39 three minutes into the third quarter. However, Milwaukee found its rhythm after that, scoring 14 unanswered points over the next five minutes. The teams entered the fourth quarter at 38-53.
MATC hit an eight-point swing to lead 63-46 before ECC countered with eight unanswered points, including two three's from Duque with three minutes remaining.
Milwaukee made a jump shot followed by another eight unanswered points to make it a one point game with 55 seconds remaining. The Stormers hit a jump shot and made a free throw to secure the 64-68 final score.
The Spartans host Lansing on Saturday at 1 p.m.
