Elgin, Ill. - The No. 17 Elgin Community College men's soccer team earned a 3-2 victory over St. Clair on Thursday.

The Spartans improve to 3-1 in their overall season.

Vinnie Aguirre opened the game with a goal at the 7:30 mark. The goal was assisted by Christian Escobedo.

St. Clair earned a penalty kick and scored just two minutes later. The game remained tied at 1-1 through the first half.

Michael Garcia scored off of a penalty kick in the 68th minute to take back the lead.

The Skippers found the back of the net at the 76:31 mark to tie the game up once more.

ECC earned a corner kick, taken by Christian Escobedo. Charlie Ames attempted to score on a header but was blocked by a defender. The blocked shot went to Ariel Gomez as he was able to score the game-winner at 86 minutes.

Maksym Kharchenko recorded six saves in his 90 minutes of play.

The Spartans are on the road to take on Bryant & Stratton on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
