
Palos Hills, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's soccer team advances to the Region 4 Championship game after a 2-1 victory over No. 15 Moraine Valley on Wednesday.
The Spartans move to 15-3-3 overall record on the season.
In a tightly contested match, the Cyclones scored on a penalty kick in the 55th minute.
With only 47 seconds left of regulation time, Ariel Gomez tied it up 1-1 after scoring on a penalty kick.
Elgin was in control during overtime, as Adrian Diaz scored the game-winner with an assist from Matthew Kapetan in the 89th minute.
Brandon Gonzalez recorded nine saves throughout the game.
The Spartans will compete for the Region 4 Championship against Morton on Saturday at 3 p.m. The game will be held at Madison Area Technical College.
