Elgin and Oglesby, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's soccer is off to a 2-0 start to their 2024 campaign.

The Spartans hosted Mineral Area on Thursday and played at Illinois Valley on Saturday afternoon.

August 22: No. 12 Mineral Area 1, ECC 3

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced its preseason rankings on August 12. The organization ranked Mineral Area 12th.

Christian Escobedo scored the first goal of his collegiate career in the fourth minute. Ethan Jimenez also netted his first collegiate goal in the 21st minute to take an early 2-0 lead.

Mineral Area found the back of the net in the 56th to tighten up the game to 2-1.

Matthew Kapetan scored off of a corner kick with 12 minutes remaining to clinch the 3-1 victory.

August 24: ECC 1, Illinois Valley 0

Gabriel Arias scored the lone goal of the game with an assist from Escobedo.

The Spartans host Truman on Thursday at 2 p.m.
