
Grayslake, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's soccer team earned a 5-3 win over Lake County on Tuesday afternoon.
The Spartans improve to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play as the Lancers move to 2-5-1 and 0-4.
Five players scored goals including Joel Gutierrez, Matthew Kapetan, Oscar Jimenez, Omar Olivo and Erick Ortiz. Ariel Sanchez recorded two assists with Luis Rubio, Ruben Guadalajara and Victor Plet tallying one apiece.
Iker Villagomez earned one save as Andrew Capps registered three.
Gutierrez put the first goal on the board in the 10th minute as Lake County found the back of the net in the 13th minute to tie it up at 1-1.
ECC's offense went off in the following 20 minutes as they netted four goals to enter halftime with a 5-1 advantage.
Despite not scoring any goals in the second half, Elgin hung on to earn the 5-3 victory.
The Spartans are back on the road to face Oakton on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
