Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's soccer team suffered a 5-0 loss to No. 7 Northeast on Friday afternoon.

The Spartans move to 0-2 as the Hawks improve to 3-0 in their respective seasons.

Tyler Buthman made his first collegiate start as a goalkeeper, recording 10 saves. Erick Ortiz recorded the lone shot on goal as Joel Gutierrez and Victor Plet each tallied one shot.

Northeast took an early 2-0 led with goals in the eighth and ninth minutes. They extended it to 4-0 by the end of the first half.

ECC allowed the fifth and final goal in the 57th minute, but Elgin was able to hold them scoreless through the duration of the game.

The Spartans host NAIA Calumet College of St. Joseph on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
