Soccer Outlasted in Season Opener

Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's soccer team was outlasted 3-1 by Parkland on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans move to 0-1 on the season as the Cobras start their season with a 1-0 record.

Andrew Capps recorded 12 saves in the box as Jesus Alonso led the offense with a goal and two shots. 

Alonso scored in the fourth minute with an assist from Joel Gutierrez to give the Spartans an early lead.

ECC held Parkland scoreless until they tied it up 1-1 on a penalty kick in the 50th minute.

PC scored back-to-back goals in the 82nd and 83rd minutes to extend its lead and claim the win at 3-1.

The Spartans are back in action to host Trinity Christian on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
