Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's basketball team clinched its first victory of the season with a 91-77 win over Joliet on Wednesday night.
The Spartans improve to 1-5 in their overall season as the Wolves move to 0-5.
All five starters scored double digits as Isaiah Smith led the team with 19 points and six assists. Meek Ater registered 17 and 10 rebounds as Gabe Wright also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Elgin held the lead for the entirety of the game after the first minute of play. ECC was up 46-39 at half and held strong in the second to clinch the win.
The Spartans travel to Freeport to face Highland on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
