Men's Hoops Falls Despite Second Half Push

Elgin, Ill., Jan. 11, 2021 - The Elgin Community College men's basketball team fell fell 86-63 in its conference opener on Tuesday night.

The Spartans dip to 6-7 on the season.

Jordan Wilkins led the team with five assists and 20 points, including a season-high four three-pointers. Damir Glamoc and Dorien Little each tallied 13 points with Justin Henderson grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

ECC was unable to connect shots in the first half, trailing 19-0 after five minutes of play. The team would enter halftime at a 44-17 deficit with eight points from Wilkins and four from Aaron Hawthorne.

The offense came out strong in the second half, with one three from Little and two from Glamoc in the first three possessions to hold the Pioneers scoreless through nine points.

Elgin continued scoring on almost every posession to tighten up the score to 52-35 with 14:10 remaining in the game. This 17-point deficit was the closest the score had been since six minutes remaining in the first half.

The second half surge led Elgin to .515 shooting, one of the highest percentages recorded all season, but could not make up for the point difference as the team fell 86-63.

The Spartans host Moraine Valley on Thursday at 6 p.m.
