Baseball Sweeps McHenry

Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team extended its winning streak to six after sweeping McHenry on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spartans improve to 16-8 overall and 3-1 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play.

Game One: MCC 1, ECC 2

Josh Caccia earned his fourth win of the season after pitching the full game. He struckout three batters and allowed just four hits and one run on the day. 

Nick Weaver led off the first inning with a double, advanced to third on Jack Kerno's groundout and scored on Cole Clemen's groundout to second base for the first run of the game.

McHenry scored one run in the top of the sixth to tie it up at 1-1.

Chris Lara and Matthew Brunscheen earned back-to-back walks to get on base in the bottom of the seventh inning. Peter Mitchell grounded into a fielder's choice to push Lara to third while Brunscheen was out advancing to second. Daniel Blickhan also grounded into a fielder's choice which found Lara out at home while Mitchell got to third base. Mitchell scored on a wild pitch during Andrew Flynn's at-bat to secure the 2-1 walk-off victory.

Game Two: MCC 3, ECC 13

Jaden Alberson earned the win, pitching five innings and striking out five batters.

The Spartans host Milwaukee Tech on Thursday at 3 p.m.
