Baseball Concludes 2024 Season

Kankakee, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team finished its season at the Region 4 Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans finish the season with a 30-22 overall record. This marked the first 30-win season since 2017.

Game One: Highland 3, Elgin 11

Lucas Aguirre made the start, pitching six innings and recording four strikeouts. Andrew Sloan pitched one inning of relief and did not allow any runs.

Daniel Blickhan recorded five RBI with a grand slam. Andrew Flynn tallied three RBI and Jack Kerno scored a team-high three runs.

Kerno and Flynn hit back-to-back singles in the first as Kerno scored on Aiden Kashuba's pop fly.

Patrick Nelson was hit by a pitch abnd Charlie Jury and Josh Collins singled to load the bases. Blickhan hit a grand slam to extend the lead to 5-0 after two innings.

Highland scored two runs in the top of the third.

Flynn led off the bottom of the inning and scored on Kashuba's RBI single to center field.

Nick Weaver and Kerno hit singles, advanced a base on a wild pitch and scored on Flynn's double to hold an 8-2 advantage after four innings.

The Cougars scored their third and final run in the top of the fifth.
