Baseball Edged by Black Hawk

Moline, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team fell in a pair of games to Black Hawk on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans move to 28-19 in their overall season.

Game One: ECC 2, BHC 6

Aiden Kashuba registered the sole RBI of the day as Nick Weaver and Patrick Nelson scored the two runs.

Lucas Aguirre pitched the full game and registered three strikeouts.

Black Hawk scored two in the first to take an early lead.

Weaver singled and Jack Kerno was hit by a pitch to get on base in the top of the third. Kashuba hit it into a one-run single to tighten up the scored to 2-1 after three innings.

The Braves scored one in the fifth to extend its lead to 3-2.

Nelson singled, advanced to second on a balk and made it to third in Jury's groundout. He then scored on a wild pitch for the Spartans' second run of the game.

BHC one in the fifth and three in the sixth to end with a 6-2 final score.

Game Two: ECC 5, BHC 15

Aiden Kashuba recorded his sixth run of the season as he brought in four RBI.

Ty Sierpien was the most efficient pitcher as he threw one inning and recorded one strikeout.

Black Hawk held a 13-0 lead after three innings.

Kashuba led off the top of the fourth with a single and advanced to third on Charlie Jury's double to right field. Daniel Blickhan grounded out for Kashuba to score.

BHC scored two in the bottom of the inning to lead 15-1 after four innings.

Weaver and Kerno singled and Flynn earned a walk to load up the bases. Kashuba hit a grand slam, but Elgin was unable to chip any more of the deficit away as the game ended with a 15-5 final after five innings.

The Spartans are back on the road to face South Suburban in their final game of the regular season on Sunday at noon.
