
Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team clinched a 4-2 win over Kankakee on Thursday afternoon.
The Spartans improve to 27-17 in their overall season.
Daniel Kinney earned his second win of the season, striking out two in six innings. Aidan Stratton recorded his first save in three innings, allowing no hits.
Jack Kerno registered two RBI with Nick Weaver tallying one. Charlie Jury, Josh Collins, Chris Lara and Josh Genz each scored one run.
Kankakee scored one run in the second and one in the fifth to hold a 2-0 advantage.
Jury, Genz and Collins loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning with two walks and a hit by pitch. Weaver grounded into fielder's choice to push one run across followed by a double from Kerno to lead 3-2 after five innings.
Jury hit a double in the sixth, and scored after two wild pitches during Genz's at bat to extend the advantage to 4-2.
Stratton finished the game from the mound, allowing no hits to clinch the 4-2 victory.
The Spartans are back on the road to face Illinois Valley on Friday at 6 p.m.
