Spartans Fall at McHenry

Crystal Lake, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team fell in a pair of games to McHenry on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spartans move to 22-16 in their overall schedule and 8-4 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play.

Game One: ECC 1, MCC 11

Josh Collins recorded two hits with an RBI as Charlie Jury and Andrew Flynn each tallied one hit. Lucas Aguirre recorded four strikeouts in three innings.

McHenry took a 6-0 advantage after three innings.

ECC scored its sole run in the top of the fourth inning. Jury singled and advanced to second on Josh Genz's groundout before scoring on Collins' single to right field.

MCC scored five more runs to end the game after five innings.

Game Two: ECC 1, MCC 11

Daniel Kinney made the start and recorded two strikeouts in three innings. Ryan Caccia made his collegiate pitching debut and registered his first strikeout.

Genz and Collins tallied two hits apiece as Aiden Kashuba, Andrew Flynn and Nick Weaver recorded one.

The Scots went up 9-0 after three innings.

Collins singled and advanced to third on Genz's single to second base. Caccia hit it into a sacrifice fly to push Collins across home.

MCC scored two more to end the game again at five innings.

The Spartans host Harper on Thursday at 3 p.m.
