Baseball Splits with Bryant & Stratton

Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team split a pair of games with Bryant & Stratton on Sunday afternoon.

The Spartans improve to 22-14 in their overall season.

Game One: BSC 8, ECC 6

Nick Weaver led the team in runs with two as Andrew Flynn led with two RBIs. Casey Farrell recorded three strikeouts and Ty Sierpien did not allow any runs in 1.1 innings.

Bryant & Stratton put the first runs on the board with two in the top of the second.

ECC loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning with walks from Daniel Blickhan and Josh Collins and Jack Kerno being hit by a pitch. Flynn hit it into a two-run single to tie up the game.

The Bobcats scored two in the third to take back the lead at 4-2.

Singles from Nick Weaver, Kerno, Flynn, Aiden Kashuba and Charlie Jury with a fielder's choice from Patrick Nelson allowed Elgin to take its first lead of the game at 5-4 after four innings.

Weaver tripled and Kerno's RBI single extended the lead to 6-4 in the bottom of the fifth.

Bryant & Stratton scored four runs in the sixth and the Spartans were unable to chip away at the deficit as they fell 8-6.

Game Two: BSC 5, ECC 13

Andrew Sloan picked up his second win of the season, recording two strikeouts and not allowing any runs in 3.2 innings.

Weaver registered four RBI and four runs with three singles and two doubles.

The Spartans are on the road to face McHenry in a pair of games on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
