
Grayslake, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team split a pair of games with College of Lake County on Tuesday afternoon.
The men won the first game, increasing their winning streak to nine, before falling in the second game.
The Spartans improve to 17-13 overall and 6-2 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play.
Game One: ECC 10, CLC 0
Lucas Aguirre earned his fourth win of the season, striking out eight batters in seven innings.
Charlie Jury registered three RBI with a single and a double as Aiden Kashuba and Nick Weaver scored two runs apiece.
The game was a pitcher's dual until the end, as neither team scored through five innings.
Lara led off the sixth and reached on an error, followed by singles from Jack Kerno, Kashuba, Jury, Josh Genz and a walk for Patrick Nelson to score four runs.
Lara also led off the seventh and walked before stealing second. Weaver bunted and Lara scored on an error. Kerno sacrificed to advance Weaver to second and Weaver advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an error on Flynn's hit. Kashuba earned a walk as he and Weaver scored on Jury's double to left field.
Genz reached first on an error as Jury advanced to third base. Julian Sturtevant came in to pinch run from Jury and scored on a wild pitch. Genz advanced to second on the same pitch and to third on a separate wild pitch. Josh Collins reached on an error, allowing for Genz to score and to result in the 10-0 final score.
Game Two: ECC 3, CLC 4
Weaver scored two runs as Kerno brought in two RBI. Casey Farrell pitched the full game and recorded seven strikeouts.
CLC scored runs in the second and fourth innings for an early 2-0 advantage.
Weaver and Kerno hit back-to-back doubles to put ECC's first run on the board.
The Lancers countered with one run in the bottom of the inning to make it a 3-1 game.
Weaver led off the seventh with a walk and scored on Kerno's double to center field.
The Spartans host Olive-Harvey for a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m.
