Palatine, Ill. - The Elgin Community College basebtall team clinched a 10-3 win over Harper on Thursday afternoon.

The Spartans improve to 7-10 in their overall record.

Josh Collins hit his first collegiate home run in the contest. Team leaders included Eli Johnson in RBI (three) and Collins and Andrew Flynn in runs (two).

Lucas Aguirre earned his second win of the season, striking out nine batters in six innings. Noah Schlup pitched three innings of relief, registering seven strikeouts.

Harper scored one run in the second as Collins countered with his homerun to be tied 1-1 after three innings.

The Hawks scored two more in the bottom of the sixth.

ECC loaded the bases and tied it up 3-3 on Flynn's single to center field. The bases loaded again and Patrick Nelson hit it into a two-run double followed by a sacrifice fly from Charlie Jury to take back the lead at 7-3.

Eli Johnson hit a three-RBI double to extend the lead in the top of the eighth inning and clinch the win at 10-3.

The Spartans are back on the road to face Kankakee on Friday at 3 p.m.
