
Galesburg, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team fell in a pair of games to Carl Sandburg on Saturday.
The Spartans move to 5-8 in their overall record.
Game One: ECC 4, CSC 7
Jaden Alberson went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and two RBI. Nick Weaver registered a pair of doubles.
Drew Piaskowy made the start and tallied seven strikeouts in five innings.
Carl Sandburg put the first run on the board in the bottom of the third.
Josh Genz, Alberson and Weaver loaded the bases on two outs in the top of the fifth inning. Genz and Alberson scored on a passed ball as Weaver scored on a wild pitch in the next at-bat to take a 3-1 advantage.
The Chargers took back the lead at 3-4 after six innings.
Alberson and Weaver hit back-to-back doubles to tie it up 4-4 to force the game into extra innings.
Sandburg hit a three-run homer to clinch the 7-4 walk-off win.
Game Two: ECC 6, CSC 7
Jack Kerno registered his first collegiate home runs to total six RBI. Edgar Barba recorded six strikeouts in five innings.
Kerno hit a two-run homer to take an early lead before the Chargers tied it up 2-2 after two innings.
Charlie Jury, Julian Sturtevant and Chris Lara got on base and scored on Kerno's grand slam to take a 6-2 advantage in the top of the fifth.
Sandburg tied it up after six to force extra innings again. CSC loaded the bases in the eighth and ECC fell 7-6 in a walk-off walk.
The Spartans host No. 8 Madison on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
