
River Grove, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team clinched a 3-1 win over Triton on Saturday.
The Spartans improve to 13-17 as the Trojans dip to 20-20.
Jake Gray earned the win after coming in for relief for three innings. Derek Angelo, Nick Schumann and Erik Teran II tallied two hits on the day with Angelo and Logan Riley registering one RBI.
Schumann doubled in the fourth and scored on an error in the infield to put the first run on the board.
Triton tied it up at 1-1 in the sixth inning.
Schumann and Angelo hit back to back triples to take back the lead in the top of the ninth. Alijah Acevedo was intentionally walked with Riley bringing Angelo home to clinch the 3-1 victory.
The Spartans travel to Madison, Wis. to face No. 2 Madison Area Technical College for a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon.
