Crystal Lake, Ill. - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team snapped their losing streak with a 67-64 victory over McHenry on Friday night.

The Spartans improve to 9-19 overall and 3-9 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play.

Team leaders included Nevaeh Howard in points (24), Kelechi Uchem in rebounds (13), Howard and Uchem in steals (three) and Ari Franco in assists (six).

ECC led from the beginning as they finished the first quarter with a 19-7 lead and entered halftime with the 34-27 advantage.

The second half was tighter as ECC was up 50-47 after the third. Both teams scored 17 points in the final quarter for Elgin to secure the win.

The Spartans host Waubonsee on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.
