Women's Hoops Edged by Prairie State

Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team was edged 72-68 by Prairie State on Tuesday night.

The Spartans move to 8-16 overall and 2-6 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play as the Pioneers improve to 9-15 and 4-5.

Kelechi Uchem recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 26 points and 22 rebounds. Nevaeh Howard and Takara Campbell netted 14 and 12 points, respectively.

ECC trailed 18-8 after the first quarter, but entered halftime with a 27-26 advantage thanks to a last second layup from Ari Franco.

Elgin kept the lead through the third quarter at 47-43, but Prairie State's big 29-point fourth quarter lifted them to edge ECC 72-68.

The Spartans travel to Grayslake to face College of Lake County on Thursday at 5:15 p.m.
