Beach Park, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's golf team opened its season at the College of Lake County Invite on Wednesday.

Sophomore Brandon Jakl shot a 42 in his first nine holes before tightening up the back nine to 40 for a score of 82, 10 over par. He tied for fourth-place individually and met his personal best score from last season.

Trevor Book totaled a 95 in his collegiate debut.

The Spartans host the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) Invite on Wednesday at noon.
