Men's Hoops Falls to Rock Valley

Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's basketball team fell 114-88 to Rock Valley on Tuesday night.

The Spartans move to 0-5 in their regular seasons as the Golden Eagles improve to 5-0. Rock Valley is receiving votes in the NJCAA DII Men's Basketball Rankings.

Derryl Gaddi registered his first collegiate double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. He also led the team in assists (six) and steals (three). Others scoring double-digits included Gabe Wright (20), Meek Ater (13), Isaiah Smith (12) and Gavin Khounnoraj with 10.

The first half was competitive through seven minutes remaining where ECC led 26-21. RVC found its offensive rhythm, scoring 13 unanswered points before entering halftime at 52-42.

Rock Valley had a dominant second half, scoring 62 points, to clinch the 88-144 win.

The Spartans host Joliet on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
