Chicago Heights, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's basketball team was edged 73-71 by Prairie State on Thursday night.

The Spartans move to 8-10 overall and 0-2 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play as the Pioneers improve to 10-6 and 2-0.

Top scorers included Dorien Little (18), John Gray III (12), Jadon Melvin (11) and Ian Smith (10). Carson Seyller led the team in assists (four) and tied with Melvin in rebounds (five).

ECC hosts College of Lake County on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
