Angelo enters his 27th year at the helm of the baseball program in the 2024 season.

He has brought a sense of pride to the program, building a winning tradition at Elgin where the Spartans have been to the NJCAA DII World Series five times with a .587 career winning percentage and over 750 wins. His teams have also won eight Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) championships, six Region IV titles, and five District championships.

Coach Angelo received the 2002 and 2003 Skyway Conference Men's Sports Coach of the Year Award. He is a six-time Region 4 Coach of the Year and has been named the District Coach of the Year five times. He has also been inducted into both the Region 4 and ISCC Hall of Fame.

Under his leadership, more than 120 players have moved on to compete at the university and four-year college level, including 20 All-Americans and 10 drafted with several others signing free agent contracts into professional baseball. Coach Angelo brings enthusiasm to the field every day and believes hard work and passion are the foundation for success.  He expects his team to not only be good baseball players, but also be high character people.

Coach Angelo also serves as the college’s Athletic Coordinator where he handles the school’s athletic eligibility and compliance with the NJCAA.  Prior to being named head coach in 1998, he was an assistant coach of the Spartans for three years. Coach Angelo also played for ECC and was named Second Team All-Conference in 1990 and First Team All-Conference Catcher and Team MVP in 1991.

He finished his playing career at Benedictine University where he earned his bachelor's degree in psychology.

Angelo resides in Elburn, Ill. with his wife, Diane, and three children.
